A local estate trust donated the land and also funded 70% of the construction cost for the house which was officially opened in early 2001. Our house provides supported accommodation (Rooms with en-suites) for up to 10 people aged 55 years or more who are looking for a supported housing option. These people may be no longer able or willing to maintain their own home & gardens, or are feeling unsafe in their own home & seek company or are simply looking to reside closer to family in their later years. We have residents who are both male & female & not all are residents of the Huon Valley before applying for residency.
Residents will be able to manage their own personal care as well as their own laundry & cleaning their own room. Our Housekeeper prepares 2 meals per day with residents required to prepare their own breakfast.
Our house operates under the Tasmanian Retirement Villages Act and caters for people of limited financial means who pay an ingoing fee of $5.00 and also caters for people of more significant financial means who may pay an ingoing fee up to $20,000.00 ($15,000.00 refundable).
