ISFAF Housing Options Group is delighted to join Abbeyfield Australia as Abbeyfield Bayside and sees that the Abbeyfield model, with minimal adaption, lends itself to providing safety, affordability and dignity to those suffering from a psycho-social disability. Since becoming a branch of Abbeyfield, they have also forged a working relationship with Port Phillip Housing Association in the hope that together they will be able to establish warm, safe, dignified affordable assisted semi-independent living for individuals in the South-East region suffering from psycho-social disabilities.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) currently being rolled out across Australia may provide additional help. Bayside plans to comply with the NDIS in order for the residents to make best use of it, but at the present time the uncertainties associated with the NDIS prevent reliance on it. In this area, the NDIS roll-out is planned for April 2018.
Abbeyfield Bayside is in discussions with Abbeyfield (Malvern East) who are considering ways in which they can be of assistance in raising seed funding and building networks in Stonnington and with other organisations with shared interests.
In the meantime, we are grateful for any help that Abbeyfield and supporters can provide. Please contact co-convenors, Dr Judi Burstyner, at judi.burstyner@gmail.com or mobile 0425 723 746 or Graham Paton at graham@patonco.com.au or mobile 0412 714427 for further information.

The first purpose built Abbeyfield house in an outer suburb of Melbourne on land provided by local government. The house was funded under the LGCHP with substantial contributions from charitable trusts. It opened in 1986 shortly after the opening of the first Abbeyfield house.
Abbeyfield House Croydon is a well maintained and affordable accommodation option for older people who are looking for a private bedroom, support, quality meals, and companionship.
The home is situated in a suburban street in Croydon, in a lovely garden setting, close to shops and transport within easy walking distance. It was established in 1986 by local community members and provides safe, home-like and affordable housing for older people in our community.
You can maintain your independence and build lasting relationships with other members of the Abbeyfield House, Croydon. Residents are in charge of their own lives and make most decisions on their own behalf, but are also aware that additional support is available to them if and when they need it.
Residents are welcome to have guests to visit. Each resident enjoys their own spacious and private room with ensuite and shares the living, dining, kitchen facilities.
