Welcome to Abbeyfield
Abbeyfield Australia is a national not-for-profit community housing provider and the peak body representing 26 independent Abbeyfield Societies in towns and suburb across Australia.
Abbeyfield Australia currently provides three types of affordable accommodation:
- assisted independent living for adults with mild intellectual disAbilities
- 'low care' (Hostel) aged care accommodation
- assisted independent living for those aged 55+.
More accommodation models are being developed in conjunction with local communities to meet local community needs.
Changing needs
As people grow older, needs change. Ageing brings different relationships as people retire from work and as their children move away and raise their own families.
|

Adults with mild intellectual disAbilities also want their independence and enjoy living in a supportive environment that affords comfort, companionship, respect, and community engagement.
The perfect solution
Abbeyfield house accommodation is the perfect solution for the older people wanting to retain their independence whilst seeking some day to day support, and younger adults with mild intellectual disabilities.
Abbeyfield houses combine independence with support, companionship and security at a price people can afford.
Abbeyfield hostels are community based aged care facilities providing excellent residential care to the elderly in their local communities.
All Abbeyfield accommodation (house and hostels) are operated on a not-for-profit basis by local communities as a local solution to a local housing need.
